he stares at you again, cocking his head slightly to the side with a raised eyebrow. his hands buried deep into his pockets "...yah, everyone does" he repeats, this time he grins.

is he teasing you or just fuckin' stupid? you ask yourself, you sigh and shake your head. "oh, satoru gojo" you murmur, crossing your arms.

"what was that?" he spins around

"nothing" you reply.

In my infinitely long quest to (potentially) mischaracterize my favs and a horrific foray into godot engine (I have a hard time with dev) I've started toying with a few story ideas of why Ridley is such an ass and this line from the manga stands out to me...

"Removing every culture but your own."

Idk. Ridley doesn't have a culture. Sure he's a space pirate, and I'm sure they have some sort of hierarchy and way of life that I don't really care about rn, but he's the only member of whatever species he is that we've ever seen, and may very well be the last of his kind. Ignoring the possibility of him being a deity (and thus one of a kind)-- not taking his ZM title literally--I wanna toy with a potential story of a runty little Ridley, unfamiliar with himself and his people being beaten down by a cruel world and growing to believe that the only way to thrive, the only way to persist, is to treat every obstacle or potential threat with the same brutality he was treated with (maybe motivated by the knowledge that he is all that's left, or out of desperation to make a mark on the galaxy despite having nothing, no history, etc.)

“maybe he’s still looking” belch had tried to reason, and victor nodded like usual. but his gut was sinking into the bottom of his stomach.

he chalked it up to being anxious a wimp and went on with his day, cruising with henry and belch.

that night when mrs. hockstetter called his home, frantically crying and going off hysterically about the whereabouts of her son, victor tried to convince himself that he didn’t care. patrick probably just found something better to do than come home that night. but patrick never came home.

cruising around town felt weird without patrick, which was odd ‘cuz victor used to hate having him around
